Plan of Salvation

What God’s Word says about Eternal Life:

The single most important question that you will ever answer is this – “If I were to die today, would I spend eternity in Heaven with God?” Your relationship to Jesus Christ is central to the answer to that question.

The Bible tells us in I John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” God’s Word says that you can know for sure that you will spend eternity in heaven.

Three things that you must understand in order to be saved:

You must understand that you need a personal Saviour.

The Bible is very clear that we all have a huge problem called sin. Sin is the breaking of God’s 10 Commandments. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” This verse teaches that every one of us are sinners. Because of our sin, we are not good enough to get to heaven on our own.

You must understand that sin has a terrible price– Eternal Death.

The Bible says in Romans 6:23a, “For the wages of sin is death…” In other words, the price for a life of sin is eternal death in a place called Hell.

You must understand that God loves you and sent His Son Jesus to save you!

The rest of Romans 6:23 says, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” God loves you and provided the way to save you from hell. In Romans 5:8, the Bible says, “But God commendeth (demonstrated) His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!” Jesus Christ came to earth as God in the flesh. He lived a perfect life, and then voluntarily died on the cross because He loves you. On the cross, He literally paid the penalty for all of your sins. He took your blame! He was punished for your sins! He died in your place so you don’t have to die! Three days later, He resurrected from the dead and is now the living Saviour who is able to save you. What a great gift!

To receive this gift you must be willing to do these three things:

You must repent of your sins.

Repentance means that you are willing to confess to God that you are a sinner and that you desire for Him to forgive and cleanse your sin. The Bible says in Luke 13:3, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

You must by faith believe in Jesus Christ to be your personal Saviour.

Jesus said in John 14:6, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. He did everything that was necessary to save you. You must make the choice to put your faith in Him alone for salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”Again in John 3:16, Jesus said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

You must call upon Jesus Christ to be your personal Saviour.

Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” If you’ve never prayed and asked Jesus Christ to be your personal Saviour, you could do that right now! Would you stop right now and sincerely pray something like this:

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are God, that You died on the cross for my sin, and that You rose again from the dead. I know that I am a sinner and I deserve Hell. I ask You right now to save me. I’m placing my full trust in You alone, and I now accept Your gift of eternal life. Thank you for keeping Your promise to save me! Amen.

You’ll never regret that decision! If you have just sincerely prayed that prayer and trusted Christ, we would love to know about your decision and give you a Bible and some other materials to help you. Send us an email at pbc@plantationbaptist.org or call us at (954) 473-2424 to let us know today!
